ARTIST:
SUSAN S. RICH
Susan Sgouros Rich has
been a professional artist for over thirty years, specializing in
realistic paintings of wildlife, domestic animals and landscapes. In
1968 Susan was hired by the State of Ohio, Division of Wildlife in
Columbus as the
staff artist. During her
eight years there, she designed and illustrated many brochures,
information sheets and slide presentations. She was also selected to
create a painting of a pair of cardinals for the first non-game species
Ohio Wildlife Collector's Stamp.
She has designed
other special limited edition prints used as awards for such
organizations as the American Culinary Federation and Hendrick
Automotive Group of Charlotte, NC. She also created a fund-raiser print
for the Erie Zoo in Erie, PA, depicting the first pair of Amur leopard
cubs, a rare Asian species, born at that zoo in 2000.
In addition to her
interest in wildlife, Susan has painted portraits of award-winning
dogs and horses, as well as many beloved family pets. Her paintings
of dogs have been shown at the Art Show at the Dog Show in
Wichita, KS, the National Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, MO, and the 1st
Great American Mutt Show in New York City .
Susan's paintings
have been exhibited in many other regional and national shows, including
the Nature Art Festival in Jamestown, NY, Wildlife and Other Worldly
Creatures in Atlanta, GA, where she won second place, and Wings and
Wildlife Art Show at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA. Her work is
in the permanent collections of many corporations, banks and hospitals
as well as private collections in the United States, Canada and Europe.
