Susan Sgouros Rich has been a professional artist for over thirty years, specializing in realistic paintings of wildlife, domestic animals and landscapes. In 1968 Susan was hired by the State of Ohio, Division of Wildlife in Columbus as the
staff artist. During her eight years there, she designed and illustrated many brochures, information sheets and slide presentations. She was also selected to create a painting of a pair of cardinals for the first non-game species Ohio Wildlife Collector's Stamp.
She has designed other special limited edition prints used as awards for such organizations as the American Culinary Federation and Hendrick Automotive Group of Charlotte, NC. She also created a fund-raiser print for the Erie Zoo in Erie, PA, depicting the first pair of Amur leopard cubs, a rare Asian species, born at that zoo in 2000.
In addition to her interest in wildlife, Susan has painted portraits of award-winning dogs and horses, as well as many beloved family pets. Her paintings of dogs have been shown at the Art Show at the Dog Show in Wichita, KS, the National Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, MO, and the 1st Great American Mutt Show in New York City .
Susan's paintings have been exhibited in many other regional and national shows, including the Nature Art Festival in Jamestown, NY, Wildlife and Other Worldly Creatures in Atlanta, GA, where she won second place, and Wings and Wildlife Art Show at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA. Her work is in the permanent collections of many corporations, banks and hospitals as well as private collections in the United States, Canada and Europe.
