Nell Drummond Fischer is an award-winning Ohio artist who lives and works in the picturesque Pickerington area.   She was taught to draw by professional artists within her own family who gave her years of personal instruction and training as she was growing up.  Creating art was the family's "way of life" and she really can't remember a time when she didn't have a pencil, crayon, or paint brush in her hand.  After time off to raise her children she has returned to the easel and to portraiture in particular.  Her enthusiastic collectors are found throughout the mid-western United States- in Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Ohio

Fischer attended Muskingum College and the Ohio State University and has studied under Robert Culver, Carl Bako, Theodore Bombach, and Dawne Lewis.  Special workshop experience has been obtained with Daniel Green, Carl Dalio, Robert Warren, Susie Schreiber, Patti Behnke, Donna Noice and Judith Carducci.

"All of my life I have marveled at the splendor of the world God has created and in which He has placed us.   From childhood, whenever I would encounter a glorious sunset or shimmering snowfall, I have always felt an overpowering urge to record it.  Grace of line and richness of hue have been lifelong seductions to me and when I paint I want to take the viewer with me into that place of beauty and color which has captured my imagination.  While I enjoy many subjects I have found over the years that it is the human face-with all of its intriguing capability to record life's experiences and mirror the person within- which has held the most on going fascination for me.  I try not only to obtain a genuine likeness of the person I am painting and to show them at their best, but I am also anxious to capture the special spark of their inner spirit and personality- the one-of-a-kind uniqueness with which their Creator has stamped them."

Nell is a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists, the Portrait Society of America, Inc., the Portrait Society  of Atlanta, Worthington Area Art League, Lancaster Art Guild, Bexley Art League and was recently elected to Signature Membership in the Pastel Society of America.  She has received numerous awards for her art including 1st Place in the Lancaster Art Guild Festival Shows of 2001 and 2002.  Best of Show in the Worthington Area Art League Spring 2001 Juried Show and is a finalist in the "2003 Pastel 100" national competition.
