WAAL Minutes for January 19, 2005 Co-President Tom McCauley called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. The meeting schedule was passed out. New people were introduced. Treasurer Ana Maria Atwood, Membership Chair Janet Waggoner, and Newsletter Editor Siebahn Gallagher were not present. Secretary Katie Fowle gave a brief overview of November’s meeting and December’s potluck. Susan Rich discussed the Art Fair at the Worthington Mall which would take place the 21st of January. A volunteer list was passed around and various aspects were discussed, such as set up, rules for attendance and activities during the day. The Spring Show at High Road Gallery will be in March, with the theme of “Springtime A La Carte.” Deadline to register is February 16 (our February meeting date). Take in is Feb. 27 from 6-8, the reception is March 4 from 2-4, and the show runs March 1st-25th. Carol Hershey discussed the “All Creatures Great and Small” and the Columbus Colored Pencil Guild “Just Pencil Me In…” shows at High Road Gallery. Bill Westerman announced the 26th National Exhibit of Art in North Carolina, which is juried by slide. More info is available in the newsletter and from Bill himself. Vivian Ripley announced her classes coming up. The Worthington Community Center wants artists to donate their time to teach art to children. The Worthington calendar deadline for art submission is the end of March, to Janet Waggoner. Art must be recognizable as Worthingon. The Worthington Business Association wants to put out cards for sale with art of Worthington. We broke for snacks. Jeff Smith, creator of the Bone series of graphic novels/comics, did a moving presentation of his work and the history of comics and the graphic novel.
