Jim Glover - Artist
Jim Glover was
influenced by his father, local artist Jack Glover, from childhood.
But it wasn't until he was introduced to bird watching at the age of
13 that his artistic vision was cast. Jim and a buddy would go
"birding," then go borrow paints and paper from Jack to make
pictures of birds they had seen.
Jim's studies in art and zoology at Kent State and Ohio State honed
his skills as a naturalist and illustrator before he began his 34-year
career with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. During that
period, Jim designed State Fair displays, illustrated and designed
brochures, booklets and maps, produced paintings for numerous posters,
developed interpretive nature displays at Old Woman Creek State Nature
Preserve, and served as art director and occasional writer for the
Ohio State Parks magazine. Since retiring in December 2002, Jim is
working on a few freelance projects and enjoying the opportunity to
paint again!
Jim is drawn to the beauty of nature, both wildlife and habitat, in
his art. Watching early morning light on the landscape causes his
heart to turn toward the One who created it.
